Rare Allischalmers Vintage Bakelite Thermometer DealerI am pleased to be able to offer this truly rare find. I am even offering free shipping on this anywhere in the united states because i know how rare this item is. This is a very old bake lite allis-chalmers advertising thermometer. It has pat pend on it. Ac was based in milwaukee, wisconsin.
This is a rare dealer item. The front is pretty nice, but i do see a few lfakes of paint off of the face. Some of the logo at the top has flaked off or faded. No cracks aynwhere on the front.
Glass has a chip out of it, but it is not very visible. You can replace the glass easily. If you look at the back, there are some chips out of the bakelite around teh edges in a few places, mostly corners. One screw is missing. I believe this to be from around 1910 1920 or so. I cleaned the bakelite a little bit very gently with a soft sponge, but it will need more attention in the grooves. Appears to be a layer fo grease, probably from hanging around a barn somewhere forever. Comes off wiht a little work. You couldn't even see the woodgrain before i satrted cleaning it. I tested the thermometer and it appears to work fine also. I have described this item ot the best of my ability. If you are looking for a perfect example, then this si not the one you want. I ma shipping this item free of charge anywhere in the united states. All sales aer as-is.
No exceptions. Sorry, but ew had a couple people try and return items which they had switched out with inferior examples, forcing us to adopt this policy. Since we have had tihs policy, no one has complained. We try to be very ohnest with our descriptions. If you are unhappy with your purchase, please contact us, but ew hope that you will ask any questions prior to placing your bid. Check our feedback and see that we have been on ebay for well over 10 years now and take pride in trying to keep evryone happy! Thanks a lot for looking, and good luck. Due to ebay's rules, we are now forced to accept only paypal as our payment method, since we don't own a credit card machine, therefore you must have a paypal account to bid on our items. If you are unable to commit to this way of payment, please contact us and we can show you this new ebay policy. Sorry. We never had problems with checks or money orders in the past, but this is whta ebay is forcing all sellers to do now. It is not our choice. Due to this change, we will only list rare items on ebay and will use shows and our flea market booth to sell items we traditionaly sold here in the past. All good things come to an end i guess. Please contact ebay and complain about what they have done to sour their relationship with the slelers here on ebay! |
